Google Authorship, Facebook and Social Media Stuff

lemon tart, lemon curdWe know you’ve clamored over here for the Google Authorship advice, but we’re saving that piece of lemon tarty goodness for last!

First, the news…

We Are On Facebook

Won’t you like us? I don’t know if that sounds like Mr. Rogers, or some desperate plea, but we are now on the social map. We have a Facebook page and invite you to check it out, join the conversation, and like the Sacramento Bloggers Fan Page. In our latest post, we ask for your Facebook Fan Page link, and provide a resource for primping up your own.

We Have a Social Media Manager

Please welcome Stephanie Porter, who has graciously accepted the role of Social Media Manager for Sacramento Bloggers. She will be the voice behind our Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest profiles. Stephanie authors the blog, Frankly, My Dear…. You can find out more about Stephanie on our expanding Staff Page.

Ever Been to a Tweetup?

The SacTweetup group is hosting another tweetup, this time at Chops on August 23 starting at 6pm. Bloggers, business owners and entrepreneurs gather together in what founder Alejandro Reyes calls one part business, two parts social. Bring your hashtags and your mobile devices as you meet people, network, and have a good time. There are usually plenty of bloggers to be found at these events.

Click here for more info and to RSVP.

We Have an Events Calendar

We’ve added an events calendar so you can see what you, as a blogger, can do in Sacramento. Right now you should see events on there (like that TweetUp we just mentioned) and soon we’ll be adding another: our own first meetup. Just click on the events tab at the top. And if you know of any social media or blogger-related events in the area, let us know about it, and we’ll add it to the calendar.

Blogging Tip: Google Authorship

Did you know that you can get your Google profile picture to appear next to your articles in search results? Like this:

SERP for NGIP

You just have to add Google Authorship to your blog. Here’s a tutorial that tells you how to do just that.

We had hoped to come back from the EVO conference in Utah and learn something worth sharing. We attended an excellent SEO workshop taught by Dennis Goedegebuure (say that fast five times) of The Next Corner. This is one of many tips we want to share with you. Stay tuned for more.
